General Club Rules

Reference to the "club" shall mean the Green Island Rod & Gun Club Inc.

All members are responsible for knowing the by-laws and specific rules governing all use areas such as general, house, pond, gun range, hunting and camping. These are posted in the Club house. MEMBERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR GUESTS.

ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION PRIOR TO OR DURING RANGE USE IS NOT ALLOWED, NO ALCOHOL ON THE RANGES AND ANYONE DOING SO WILL HAVE THEIR MEMBERSHIP TERMINATED!

Club members must carry their Membership card at all times on the property. A person not able to prove that they are a member can be told to leave to leave by the member requesting proof.

All members should be on alert for trespassers at all times. You have the right to ask them to leave or can have them removed by a law enforcement officer. (Always avoid conflict with the trespasser). Use common sense by getting their back tag number or license plate number, if they are refusing to leave call an officer or director immediately.

Club members will sign the sign-in book when on the club property and/or sign the work log book when attending work parties or doing maintenance work.

Absolutely no unsupervised children are allowed on the property, they must always be supervised by the parent/guardian member.

No member will give the club lock number to any member of the family or to anyone other than a paid-up member. (If this occurs, it will be an act of misconduct.)

No one other than a member or their immediate family (spouse/partner and children), may operate recreational vehicles(including ATVs, UTVs, Motor Bikes, Snowmobiles, Etc.), on Club grounds. All riders under 18 must wear a helmet at all times, this includes passengers. There is no recreational riding during deer season.

All motorized vehicles(including ATVs, UTVs, Motor Bikes, Snowmobiles, Etc.), may not be driven off club main roads, or on any ranges unless authorized to do so. (No Motor Bikes larger than 100cc). Speed limits of 5MPH will be enforced around the clubhouse, parking areas, and lower driveway(from road to turnaround). All other areas shall have a 10MPH speed limit, Passenger vehicles(cars, trucks, Etc.) shall not be driven on trails/courses unless authorized by the officers and directors for work/work party.

The club will not be liable for any motorized vehicles or personal property. (Ride at your own risk).

A club member's immediate family, (spouse/partner and children), may use the grounds only if the member is present.

Club members may bring guests on the club for scheduled activities. Other than scheduled activities, the member will take full responsibility for their guests and inform them of any fees that they must pay. Guests are NOT allowed to hunt.

All members will clean and pick up after themselves both inside and outside of the club.

PLEASE NOTE: The club including the building and grounds are under video surveillance 24/7. Anyone tampering with the club trail cameras or security cameras will result in termination of membership.

If you are not renewing your membership, you must inform us in writing that you will not be renewing. If you do not and the dues renewal period has expired(April 1st) you will be in bad standings, not be able to re-join for one year and not be allowed at the club as a guest except for events that are open to the public.

If you see someone doing something wrong or unsafe please confront them. If they give you a hard time, get a description, license plate number, etc. and call an officer or director immediately.

Officers, Directors and Committee Chairpersons must perform a minimum of 25 work hours during the membership calendar year (January 1st-December 31st) to receive to receive free membership dues for the following year.

House Rules
-
Club members will sign the log book when on the club property or at work parties.

Smoking is not permitted in our buildings. You must go outside to smoke.\

When a member is the last one to leave the club, they are responsible for locking the gate, turning off all lights & fans and locking the clubhouse.
-
All guests of members will pay a fee of $5.00 year round for indoor archery range and gun range use. All members and guests will pay a fee of $5.00 for shooting the 3D targets when out. If you don't have a paper target, a $1.00 fee will apply.

All members will clean and pick up after themselves both inside and outside of the club.

Broadhead targets are not allowed indoors and shooting broadheads indoors is prohibited.

No loaded firearms will be allowed within the Clubhouse. Pistols shall be holstered on you.

No one is allowed to park in the Handicap areas unless Handicapped.
-
The use of illegal drugs, (of any kind), are forbidden on Club property.
-

Gun Range Rules
-

Member and guest must sign the club log book. Members are responsible for their guest conduct. A member can ONLY bring ONE (1) guest and the guest can only visit 5 times, then that guest must become a member to use the ranges.

A fee of $5.00 MUST be paid for each guest prior to using the range.
-
If the orange flag is out by the clubhouse door, the range is closed, The range is also closed on all scheduled events , NEBA archery shoots and for maintenance.
-
Ear and eye protection should be considered a must and are required for guests and people under 18 years of age.
-
Shootes should always be alert to the fact that club members may stray into the range area.
-
Pistol range is for PISTOLS and .22 rim-fire ONLY.
-
Cardboard or paper targets are the only allowed targets on the back stops. Spinners and metal targets must be approved prior to use and must be placed directly in front of the berm. Glass and metal containers or any other items may NOT be used for targets.
-
There will be no hanging targets on the main supports, support beams of target holders or trees. No targets are to be placed on top of support beams of on earthen berms.
-
No shooter will shoot in any other direction other than the target holders.
-
If a case arises that other shooters are waiting, please avoid any conflicts and shoot in a timely manner.
-
There will be no shooting on the gun ranges before 8:00am and after sunset.
-
There will be no hunting (within the yellow signs) on the rifle range.
-
No guests are allowed on the range from Oct. 1st until Dec. 25th. MEMBERS ONLY!
-
If someone is down range setting or checking targets, ALL guns are to be empty and actions open. No handling firearms if someone is down range.
-
Exploding targets are banned on the gun ranges and at the club.
-
Clay birds shall only be used as skeet targets, with a thrower, and shotgun with birdshot. Do NOT place claybirds on target frames, on top of target frames or on earthen berms.
-
Birdshot shall not be shot at the pistol targets holders, 50yd target holders, 100yd target holders, or 200yd target holders.
-
The shotgun pattern frame is for shotgun with birdshot only. Please bring your own cardboard and targets to use it.

Carry in-carry out. Everyone shall clean-up after themselves and bring their garbage home or dispose of it in the dumpster. Live rounds shall be disposed of in the "Dud" pail and spent brass shall be placed in the "Spent Brass" pail. Please dispose of shotgun hulls, cases, boxes, and spent targets. No burning or leaving garbage.

Practice proper gun safety at all times. If more than one person is at the gun range, one person will be selected by all as range captain to ensure everyone's safety.

Use common sense. If you have a question, ask the question.

Hunting Rules
-
Members hunting must carry their membership card at all times. Members have the right to request the showing of a membership card from anyone not known to them. (Trespassing has been a problem in the past). Members trespassing on neighboring properties will have their membership terminated.

Members who wish to hunt club property must perform 20 work hours prior to hunting season.
-
Hunting is restricted to Club Members and their children ages 17 and younger. The member's spouse must join to hunt and be a full member, not an associate member. Children 18 and older must join to hunt. Members are responsible for their children and must keep them close. Guests can NOT hunt.

Tree stands of any kind are not allowed on club property.

There will be NO HUNTING (within the yellow signs) or anywhere on the rifle range,

A ONE (1) deer limit, (per license year), may be taken on club grounds. Hunters must possess valid NYS licenses, permits and obey all NYS hunting regulations.
-
Does cannot be taken with a firearm during rifle and muzzleloader season. Does may be taken with a bow or crossbow only. Offenders will have their membership terminated.
-
Bucks MUST have at least two (2) points on one side to be taken. Youth hunters (member's children ages 12-17) may take a buck with at least one point on one side. If NYS DEC increases point restrictions, those restrictions shall override club restrictions and be enforced at the club.

At NO time will a member shoot an animal and not remove it or shoot an animal out of season. Members must take an exhaustive effort to find wounded game.
-
During the Hunting season, ATVs, cars, trucks, etc. may only be used for the recovery of an animal. No recreational riding.
-
Hunters entering the club in the early hours (dark) should lock the gate after entering. Members using the rifle or archery ranges need not lock the gate unless you are the last to leave. If you know a hunter is still out when leaving, please lock the gate.

There will be NO DRIVING of deer at any time or anywhere on club grounds.

All members hunting will sign-in and sign-out in the log book.

There will be NO hunting in the pavilion field and from the clubhouse to the driveway gate.
-
New members that join between September 1st and December 31st cannot hunt club property until the following membership year.

Trapping Rules
-
Before trapping, trappers must inform the Habitat Chairman of their intentions and the areas they wish to trap.
-
Trappers must post a sign at the club house to let members know that traps are on the property. They do not have to give their location to members, butt must inform the Habitat Chairman of their location. Must ribbon pond area traps.

Trappers must possess valid NYS licenses, trapping permits and obey all NYS hunting/trapping regulations.
-
New members that join between September 1st and December 31st can not trap club property until the following membership year.

Pond Rules
-
Members may bring only ONE (1) guest to the pond. The ONLY exception is a Scheduled Event. The member is responsible for their guest conduct and all must sign in.

Children MUST be supervised at all times. Children 12 and under MUST wear a life vest in a boat and on the dock. Children 12 and under will not be in boat without a parent of guardian. A life vest is required for every person in a boat and should be worn. Do not exceed the capacity of the boat. Life vests are in the clubhouse and must be returned after use. Please turn over the boat, return oars/paddles to shed and return life vests to clubhouse when finished. Please let us know of any defective equipment.

Member's boats are allowed, but NO gas powered motors.

The Club shares no responsibility for stolen or damaged boats left at the pond.
-
No one will use live bait other than WORMS.
-
No one will introduce any other fish or bait fish, without the Habitat Chairman's permission.
-
No member or guest will disturb and Waterfowl housing or nesting.
-
Members are responsible for picking up any trash that may have accumulated during their visit.
-
No member will discharge a firearm into the pond unless legal hunting.
-
Waterfowl, frog and snapping turtles may be hunted during their open seasons.
-
If a fires is used, it must be attended at all times and put out before leaving. There will be no fires on the ice.
-
There will be no BASS, TROUT or GRASS CARP taken. All BASS, TROUT and GRASS CARP will be catch and release. If the hook is too deep, cut the line/leader and release. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Fishing in the club pond will be restricted to the period from the Saturday of the Annual Gene Bahan Memorial Fishing Derby in June until November 30th. All fish will be catch and release with the exception of those selected at the Annual Gene Bahan Memorial Fishing Derby by the Habitat and Pond Committee Chairman.

Camping Rules
-
Camping is restricted to Members and their immediate family, meaning spouse/partner and children ONLY. The only exception is a scheduled Club event. Campers must sign the log book at the start and finish of their stay.

Camping is only allowed in designated areas. The Pond and the Club House pavilion field areas are the only designated areas at this time. (Requests must be submitted to the Officers and Directors if another area is desired.) If camping near the Club House pavilion field area, you must be along the wood line.

You must request permission from the Officers and Directors if you wish to stay longer than 3 days.
-
You must remove your trailer or camper after you stay. Ther will be no exceptions other than winter storage.
-
All fires must be confined and extinguished during sleeping hours. Fires must also be extinguished when leaving for any length of time.

All trash must be picked up and disposed of. There will be no dumping of trailer holding tanks on club property.
-
No power will be supplied to campers.
-
There will be NO cutting of live trees for fire wood or amusement. If there is a tree marked for cutting, you may cut it with permission from the Habitat Chairman.
-
Member will be responsible and must always be on the club grounds while their family is present.

Read pond rules when using a boat when camping.
-
Campers using the pond area will have to leave the area during scheduled 3D shoots and pond related events.
